All our instructors are professionals who have been developed to offer the highest quality instruction. Every member of our instructor team is approachable, caring, and possesses a true love for teaching martial arts. They all hold the highest and only internationally recognised black belt certification for W.T.F Taekwondo awarded by the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters). They are all First Aid Trained and Professionally Insured. They have been carefully selected and their skills have been honed through our Instructorship programme to guarantee the training experience that will leave you inspired. Master Daniel Kobbina – President

Daniel is a charismatic international Taekwondo Master, certified by the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Federation Headquarters - Korea) as a 5th Degree Black Belt. He is also a Specialist Personal Trainer and Fight Director for Film. He has studied Taekwondo / Martial Arts from a very young age.

In January 2001 he founded Hwarang Academy. Previously, he was the founder instructor of WTF Taekwondo at Oxford Brookes University in 1994 where he graduated in Electronics Engineering. He continues to work with positive minded individuals and organizations for the development and promotion of Taekwondo / martial arts in the UK and Globally.

Master Daniel Kobbina has developed training programmes and instructed on self defence for various high profile individuals and institutions. He devised and conducts the Instructorship Training Program at Hwarang Academy. This coaching program teaches instructors how to deliver effectively and safely all aspects of physical training in Taekwondo / Martial Arts. This ranges from the traditional aspects through to the sports and also the mental and spiritual side of student development. It also covers Korean Terminology, Taekwondo Etiquette, History and Philosophy, Dojang (School) management, Leadership and Personal Development Skills, Client Management and Quality Assurance.

Master Daniel’s seminars and private instruction are on; Self Defence, Taekwondo, Thai/kickboxing, Core and Flexibility, Speed and Strength Training for Martial Arts, Weight Management and Cardio-vascular Fitness, Mental Preparation for Events or Competition.

Lockhart Ogilvie

Lockhart started martial arts training in Shotokan Karate when he was six and attained 1st Degree Black Belt under the renowned late Sensei Enoeda aged 11 years old. He won numerous competitions in both Sparring and Technical Forms. He then progressed to Western Boxing and more recently, Taekwondo in 2001. Lockhart enjoys all aspects of the Hwarang Academy training syllabus particularly practicing with weapons such as the staff and sword. He also enjoys archery as a hobby. Lockhart has honed his teaching skills to perfection and graduated from the Hwarang Academy Instructorship Programme in 2005. He is a no-nonsense type of instructor with a reputation for his gruelling and disciplined workouts.

Adela Solomon

Adela started training in September 2003 and attained 1st Dan in December 2007. She is an adept competitor and is particularly fond of this side of Taekwondo. She has participated in numerous high level competitions and makes a habit of winning. Her most prominent tournament achievements are detailed below. In her spare time she is a corporate solicitor working for a City law firm.

Michaela Pinkavova

Michaela started practising Karate at the age of 10 and won numerous tournaments in her home country - Czech Republic where she also trained and competed successfully in Gymnastics and Athletics. She started training in Taekwondo whilst living in New York, USA in 2006. After an intense programme of daily training she attained 1st Dan in 2008.

Michaela is a well rounded and competent martial artist, skilful Taekwondo player with a fresh and dynamic approach to teaching. Her enthusiasm and commitment to Taekwondo is rare. As such she has continued to progress at Hwarang Academy and recently graduated from the Instructorship Training programme in December 2009 and attained 2nd Degree Blackbelt.

In her free time she enjoys wildlife and nature photography.
